Coffee Cherries

Micah Stoicu(micah-andersen-gmail-com)
Do people do anything with the actual cherry part of the plant? Can you eat them like normal cherries?
  • Eric Andersen replied

Yes! They either use it as compost or, sometimes, they dry it out and make "cascara" - which is a tea-like drink with some really nice honey notes to it.

Wormhole Cafe in Wicker Park, Chicago serves Cascara tea, made from the cherries of coffee beans. It's pretty good.
